“Stop Worrying”

Dear Believer (s):
It is not easy to live free from worry. It is a battle. This is something I can surely identify with. Thank God for the Holy Spirit. He helped me to bind, and overcome the spirit of worry. No Christian, no matter who you are or how saved you are; I don’t care how often you talk in tongues, everybody knows how to worry. You are pulled in many different directions as a result of worry. Worry causes indecision, doubt, fear, and unbelief. Worry also causes stress.

We live in a world today that is filled with uncertainties. Many people have concerns, and fears regarding the state of America. They are worried about political leaders, and decisions they are making which affects their future, and the future of their children.

We worry about our health, and our children’s physical being. We worry about our economic status, and the ability to afford the necessities of life. Individuals worry about the safety of their neighborhood, their children’s schools, colleges, and universities. We are very concerned about the safety of our country.

Large numbers of senior citizens worry about being alone, and fear they have been forgotten, and no one cares.

There is a major concern with many today regarding the care free attitudes of others who do not respect nor even care about the feelings, and rights of others. There are individuals who do not respect the laws, and the God truths that America was founded upon. There is an atmosphere of lawlessness, lying, divisiveness, greed, evilness, and other demonic spirits sweeping our nation. Many Individuals are living by the lies of men, and the devil. Gods Ways, His Truths, Commands, Laws and Principles, and His Biblical Teachings are being ignored. Many want us to believe that there is no God. Others will tell you that there is no need to pray or there is no right or wrong. The Truth is. God is real! God is alive! God is in control! God is still on His throne! God controls the devil! We do not have to worry about the ways that the devil and his agents try to destroy us with worry. God has given His people the key and remedy for worry. We do not have to be bound by doubt, unbelief, fear or worry.

Let us look at what God says about this in His Word. Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” I believe all of us are in agreement that we should be happy. The Bible tells us, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”(Nehemiah 8:10) Many people that I counsel or pray with have lost their joy. God’s people should have continuous expressions of joy in their hearts always. It is the joy of the Lord in my heart that keeps me strong. In Philippians 4:5 states, “Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.” And then this one phase from verse 6,“Be careful for nothing.” Instead of the word, “careful”, there is another word that possibly brings out the meaning a little better to us. “Be anxious for nothing.” Do not allow anxiety to come into your mind. If you do not know what anxiety is, let me explain it this way. STOP WORRYING!

Everyone of us knows how to worry. The devil always causes worry to come through the mind. He knows how to throw thoughts into the mind. Worry will keep you from allowing your faith to function. In other words, worry will paralyze your faith. We should not allow anything to destroy our relationship with Christ. We must learn to rejoice in the face of tests, and trials.

When worry starts to work, it has physical consequences. It causes headaches, ulcers, stomach problems; your digestive system does not work properly, it causes you to have high blood pressure, sleepless nights, over eating, and when you worry there is no manifestation of joy. Paul’s command to us, as well as, the church at Philippi is, “Be careful for nothing.” Don’t worry.

Paul tells us how we can get rid of worry, if we will only do three things. He says pray right, think right, and live right. In Philippians 4:6, we read “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God.” Here Paul is showing us how to pray. In everything, by prayer, by supplication, and with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known.

Most of God’s people do not know how to pray. They think prayer is just talking with God. But prayer is also God talking to you too. Prayer is a combination of adoration, devotion, and worship. It’s an attitude of adoration, worship, and devotion to One who is higher than you, the One who uses the earth as His footstool. He is the Almighty God, the El Shaddai, and you are coming to Him in the Name of Jesus. He said, whatever you ask the Father in My Name, He will give it to you. But before you make a petition known, you have got to learn how to pray, and make supplication. Supplication is a sharing of the need.Being specific about what you desire. There is another scripture, Isaiah 65:24 which states, “Before they call, I will answer.”Because you make your request known, you are sharing the need with Him, you are worshipping God, and then you are giving Him thanksgiving. The Apostle Paul is letting us know that if we pray right, we are going to get the end result.

Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Later on in verse 9, it’s the “God of Peace.” Once you get the peace of God and apply it, the God of peace shall keep you or shall be with you.

When you learn how to pray right, you automatically learn how to think right. Now you do not have to worry. No matter what the problem! No matter what kind of trouble you are faced with, you are a child of God. God knows how to keep your heart, and mind in perfect peace. Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Now you have begun to think right, when you know God is keeping you. The devil strikes everyone of us in the mind first. That’s where a seed is sown, and that’s where it either dies or grows. Let the devil know that he cannot touch your life, and then begin thinking godly thoughts. Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Pray right, think right, and let’s live right. People will accept Jesus as the Christ who died on the cross but they do not want Him to be the Lord of their lives. Philippians 4:9 says, “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” If we are going to be totally free from worry, we have to live right.

James says the same thing a little differently. James 4:1-3 says, “From whence come wars and
fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye
ask not.3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:5-8 says, “Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

James is saying the same thing as Paul. Both are telling us how to live right. It is not easy to live free from worry. It is a battle. But remember, the battle is not yours. It is the Lord’s battle! We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Never forget that God demands through His Word that we learn how to pray right, think right, and then live right. As we practice this we will become full of faith, free from WORRY.

Let us pray;“Dear God, in the name of Jesus deliver us from worry. Let our hearts and minds be upon godly things. Let us use our faith in You to believe. When we as Your children walk in obedience to Your Word, the devil cannot defeat us with worry. Lord, we humbly bow to Your will in all things. This enables us to be worry free. We Praise, Magnify, and Lift Up the name of Jesus. We pray this prayer in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen!”

Thank you for your continued financial support. When you give expect with great expectation to be blessed. You are planting your gift seeds in fertile ground, your harvest will come.

With Joy & Faith,
Thomas Oglesby
