“The Father of Love”

Dear Believer(s):

No matter how much love a Christian father can give, it is a small measure of the love that God gives. All the kindness, concern, love, tenderness, and unselfishness of the earth’s finest father is but a portion of that great love our Heavenly Father has for His children. He is love and He is light. He is a consuming fire. He is a father.

In one of His most famous parables, Jesus lets us see God’s heart by likening Him to the father of the Prodigal Son. Luke Chapter 15: 11-32, “Then He said: A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood.  And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.  But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.  Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.  And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself, he said, How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!  I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants. And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry. Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf. But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him. And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.”

Let’s allow this story by Jesus to enter our spirits so that we as fathers can take on some of the likeness of God. We have a responsibility as Christian fathers to live allowing God to manifest His love through us.

The world today needs men of great spiritual character. We as Christian men need to stand up for the principles of God. We should not be fearful nor compromise the Word of God. People of the world and our families need to see men witnessing for God. They need to see men as yielded vessels of God unwilling to bow to the lawlessness and wickedness of society. We as God fearing men need to lead others to Christ by boldness and fearlessness, in being a testimony for God in all that we do.

God is calling men today to become a part of His family and allow the Holy Spirit to be fully operative in their lives in order to destroy the works of satan.

Men of God it is not too late for us to be a fruitful army that is willing to bring glory to our God.

Let us pray, “Dear God, we may have failed you in the past by not walking in a holy and righteous manner. But today we ask for your forgiveness, we ask that you enable us to stand up for you. Lord, remove the temptations and hindrances that have bound us in the past. We cry out to you with humble hearts seeking to do your will. We pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us in all that you have called us to do. We denounce all habits of unrighteousness. We now walk in obedience to Your Voice and Word. We thank you for the opportunity to please you and to be called Sons of God. We pray this prayer in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen!”

Christian fathers, this is a new day and a new opportunity that the Lord has given us. Let us awake each morning asking God to use us for His glory.

Men as we acknowledge and celebrate this Father’s Day, let’s look for ways to serve others and to bring glory to God.

I need your continuous financial help as we spread the Good News of the Gospel. I ask you to pray about supporting the work that we are doing. If you are lead by the Holy Spirit in your giving, I know that you will be blessed. I thank you for your giving.

We want you to have a summer filled with the blessings of God. We pray for you to have a vacation filled with fun, rest and relaxation. Please drive safely and responsibly!

Happy Father’s Day,

Thomas Oglesby
