“Wait On The Lord”

Dear Believer(s):

We are living in a world when everything and almost everyone puts emphasis on immediacy. Nobody wants to wait. Many crucial mistakes are made because of rushing.

Many Christians have lost great blessings because they failed to wait upon the Lord. We allowed our soulish realm to lead us and it opens up the door to the traps of satan. Many times we cannot discern the voice of God because of our impatience.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”  When we wait on the Lord it shows that we trust him.  The Bible tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Spending time waiting upon God for the answer allows the spirit of God to lead and guide us. What tragic results and problems we encounter when we make important decisions based upon our mind, will, and emotions. Wait on the Lord and allow His Spirit to guide us.

I have made awful mistakes by not waiting on the Lord. I felt that God was taking too long. I thought that I could rush His decision. When we run before God we are walking or living in the flesh and not in the spirit. We want an answer from God, and we want it now. We want to dictate to God the time in which to move. Impatience leads to our walking in our own permissive will and not the perfect will of God.

Isaiah Chapter 40 tells us about the awesome knowledge, wisdom and power of God. Let’s look at verses 13, 14, 25, and 28. 13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor hath taught him? 14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? 25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. 28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

Let’s look at Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

When we read and meditate on these scriptures, how can we not wait upon the Lord? God knows everything. He knows the beginning and the end.  No wonder our lives are in a mess. We are failing to wait to get the spiritual help that we need. The problems that we face need answers that only God can give.

When we wait upon the Lord, it means that we trust God. Psalm 37:7 says, “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him.” Resting and waiting patiently requires that we allow the Spirit of God in us to take control. The natural mind of man does not want to wait. We must allow the Spirit to take control of our soulish realm.

God has an appointed time for things to happen. God does not operate by man’s wrist watch. We miss out on many blessings by not waiting on God. We must ask God to give us the patience of faith. The patience of faith is waiting on God for the answer no matter how long it takes.

We must Wait on the Lord and seek Him. Let God quicken us in our spirits as when to move. We must not be governed by our circumstances or what see we in the natural. We must not be led by the ungodly. Do not allow your human will to determine the direction you should go. Let the Holy Spirit lead and guide you as to what God would have you to do.

Let me share one last scripture with you. Lamentations 3:25-26 says, The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.”

Let us pray. Dear God, teach us to wait on Thee. Remove the humanness of trying to rush spiritual things. God, you created us for your good. We cannot receive your goodness when we walk in our own way. We thank you for your love and peace that only you can give. We pray this pray in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen!

I want to thank all of you for supporting the ministry with your finances and prayers. Your sacrificial giving is not taken for granted. I pray for God to bless you according to Luke 6:38, Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

With Thankfulness & Love,

Thomas Oglesby
