“A Thanksgiving of Prayer”

Dear Believer (s):

First, I want to thank you for supporting the ministry this year. I also want to thank you by praying for your Thanksgiving Day Prayer Request. It will be my privilege to be able to pray for your prayer needs on Thanksgiving Day.

I will spend several hours in prayer on Thanksgiving Day praying for the special needs of those who send their prayer requests to me. You may write, call or e-mail your special request.

In the past we have seen in answer to our prayers, God perform some miraculous miracles. Remember God does answer prayer. God is answering prayers of Believers today. The Bible says, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16)  I want to agree with you according to Matthew 18:19, Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”

It does not matter what you may be going through or what seemingly impossible situation you may be facing. The Bible says, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37)

God has given us power and authority over the works of the enemy. Luke 10:19 says,  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Our prayers can defeat the devil.

Prayer is the most potent force in the universe. We must as believers use this power. Jesus’s disciples realized this. They did not ask Jesus to teach them to open blind eyes, raise the dead, heal the sick or cast out devils. In Luke Chapter 11, one of Jesus’s disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” You and I as believers must realize the power we have when we pray.

Jesus wants you and I to come to Him in prayer. I want to join with you in prayer. Regardless of the need, Jesus can handle the problem.

What is your prayer need today? It might be some type of sickness that you have struggled with, difficulties in family relationships, an over bearing financial problem, locating a spirit-filled church, overcoming a habit or addiction, being freed from a lustful spirit, learning to forgive, overcoming temptation, seeking a godly mate, finding the right job, believing that God cares or realizing a God given dream. Whatever the problem or trouble you are going through, God does have the answer. I want you to know that not only does God care, He will give you victory. You will have a personal testimony of what He has done for you.

The problem you face may be fear, doubt or unbelief because you have prayed before and nothing happened. But listen to what the Word of God says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.(Galatians 6:9) The key to answered prayer is not to give up on God. He loves us and will answer our prayers. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)

We live in a world filled with trouble, and America has experienced many problems during the last year. Let’s not forget to pray for our country and its leaders. America needs prayer.

I encourage everyone who reads this letter to spend time in prayer on Thanksgiving Day. Be sure to pray for your family members. Prayer changes people and prayer changes situations. James 5:17-18 says, “ Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” Let’s put prayer to work regarding our loved ones.

We live in a world that is full of problems, but we have the Holy Spirit to direct, teach, lead, and empower us. We can be thankful to God because with Him, we will not be defeated by trouble and trials. This Thanksgiving we can be filled with joy, peace, and love. We must center our minds and hearts on Jesus. He can help us to rise above the storms of life and have complete victory. My prayer is that you will turn to Him to carry your burdens this Thanksgiving.

Let us pray: Dear God, help us to trust You during our difficult times. Let us not put our trust in things, money and who we are. Let us understand that your love for us and our obedience to you will give us victory over life’s problems. We pray for the less fortunate, the hopeless, and the lost. We pray for military personnel, our political leaders, our spiritual leaders, our country and for our families. Lord, we give you thanks

for this season and let us surrender our all to you. We pray this prayer in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen!

I want to thank you again for your support of the ministry which allows me to continue the work of the gospel. When you are giving to God from your heart, no gift is too small.

I will be in earnest prayer, praying in the spirit for all of your personal needs. Do not forget to contact me regarding your prayer needs. You can call, write or e-mail me. I expect God to do some miraculous things as we join together in prayer on Thanksgiving Day.

With Thankfulness & Prayer,

Thomas Oglesby
