“CHRIST WAS BORN TO DIE”
Dear Believer(s):
What is Easter about? Why do we celebrate Easter? Easter is about God’s love for sinful man. Since Adam sinned, all men have been born in sin and “shapen in iniquity” (Psalm 51:5). “Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned”(Romans 5:12).
Jesus came to die to deliver us from our sins. God wanted us to live by His Spirit. God wanted us to live by His Light and not be bound and walk as the devil leads. Paul tells us, “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another” (Titus 3:3). The Bible says in Ephesians 2:2, “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.”
God wanted all people to be delivered from darkness. He wanted His People to receive Jesus as their Savior. God wanted us to have eternal life. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jesus died for us. He died that we might be delivered from our sins. God made the total sacrifice for us. He had His Son to die so that we could live. It is important that we read the Word of God and know the truth. The Bible says in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The Jews were not responsible for the death of Christ. Our sins were responsible for His death. Jesus died that we might be forgiven of our sins and that we might have eternal life. Jesus says in John 10:17-18, “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” No man can kill the Son of the Living God. He was alive from the beginning. He is alive now and will live forevermore. “We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh
and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:9, 14, 15).
Jesus “tasted death” for all men. He did not die for a select few. He died for all.
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:17-18).
Do you believe that Jesus is the risen Savior? Have you accepted Him as your personal Savior? You do not have to live in sin? You do not have to be controlled by the devil. You can have the Spirit of Jesus living in you.
God’s time for you to be saved is now! This very moment is God’s time. If you are reading this letter and you are not saved, I want to lead you to Christ. Today is the day of salvation, “now is the accepted time.”(11 Corinthians 6:2). If you are not saved, here is the Bible answer; “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:30, 31). Now, in order to be saved, bow your head and read this prayer out loud. Dear God, I am sorry for all the sin I have committed. I repent of my sin; I ask you from my heart to forgive me for all sin and save me for Jesus’s sake. With all of my heart I receive Jesus now as my personal Savior. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. You said you would if I would believe in my heart (Romans 10:9, 10), and I do believe in my heart that you died for me and rose again from the dead! In Jesus’s name, Amen!
If you have recited this prayer and received Jesus as your personal savior, please write to me or call me. I want to help you with your walk with God.
Jesus was born to die for our sins in order that we might have eternal life. Easter is about a risen Savior. Thank God we can have His Spirit alive in us. The Bible tells us, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all” (Psalm 34:19). God will deliver us from any and all trouble that we face. We are never alone. God is with us.
Let us pray. “Dear God, as we face the many trials of life, it is comforting to know that you are with us. Even when facing all types of plagues and diseases. We don’t have to hide in fear. As we follow your wisdom and knowledge, we can overcome all problems. We stand under your Divine Covering and Protection. God, help us walk in obedience to Your Word so that we can receive all of Your bountiful blessings. We thank You for Your love and for Your Son dying on the cross for our sins. We pray this prayer in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen!”
I will be in special prayer on Easter Sunday Moring. Please write, e-mail me or call with me with your special prayer request. You can also go to our website and place your prayer request.
The coronavirus is serious, and we must take all of the necessary precautions we can. But do not allow it to bind you with fear. God is still in control. Remember, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2Timothy 1:7). Let’s pray much and trust God.
Christ is Risen,
Thomas Oglesby
